Plain‐English summary: We collect the minimum information needed to run Roomiz.
Household data (chores, expenses, calendar, plushy status) is primarily visible to your
household members. We don’t sell your data. You can access, correct or delete your
information, and delete your account. This policy follows the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), with notes for GDPR/UK GDPR and CPRA/CCPA users.
1) What this policy covers
This policy applies to our websites, mobile apps and related services (“Services”). It explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use/share it, and your choices.
2) What we collect
a) Information you provide
Account: name, email, (optional) profile photo; age confirmation.
Household: household name, address/suburb (optional), invited members.
Chores: titles, assignees, repeats, rotation/completion logs.
Expenses & bills: amounts, due dates, splits, notes, attachments (e.g., receipt images). Roomiz does not process payments.
Calendar: event titles, times, notes, attendance; reminders.
Plushy status: optional, lightweight mood/status you can change or turn off.
Support & feedback: messages, requests, survey responses.
b) Information collected automatically
Device & app: device model/OS, app version, language, crash logs, performance metrics, IP‐derived
coarse location.
Usage: feature use (e.g., chore assignments created, events added), timestamps, and
push‐notification tokens for reminders.
Cookies/SDKs: on the website and in the app for essential operations and analytics (see §10).
c) Information from others
Household members who invite you may provide your email/name.
Integrations you choose to connect (e.g., calendar sync) provide minimal data needed to operate the link.
We do not collect biometric data or precise location, and we do not infer health information from plushy status.
3) Who can see your information (household visibility)
By default, members of a household can see that household’s chores, expenses, calendar entries, and plushy status. Some items may offer visibility controls. If you leave a household, your access ends; certain records (e.g., expenses, chore logs, events you created) may remain for the remaining members to preserve an accurate history.
4) Why we use your information
Provide the Services: create/manage your account; run chores, expenses, calendar, reminders, plushy status; store household history.
Improve & secure Roomiz: analytics, debugging, preventing abuse/spam, maintaining
performance.
Communicate with you: service messages (e.g., changes to terms, feature updates), and with your consent, optional product news.
Legal & compliance: comply with law, enforce terms, protect rights, safety and property.
Legal bases (where applicable, e.g., GDPR/UK GDPR): performance of contract; our legitimate interests (security, improvement); consent (e.g., marketing, certain integrations); legal obligation.
5) Sharing your information
We don’t sell personal information. We share only with:
- Your household members, according to visibility and your actions.
- Service providers (hosting, analytics, crash reporting, email/push delivery, authentication, optional integrations) under contract and only for our purposes.
- Authorities or third parties when required by law or to protect rights/safety.
- Successors/affiliates in a reorganisation, with notice where required.
We do not allow third parties to use your household data for their own advertising.
6) International transfers
We may store data in Australia or other countries where we or our providers operate. When transferring data internationally, we use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent measures.
7) Retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed for the purposes above.Backups are retained for a limited period. If you delete your account, we delete or de‐identify personal information within a reasonable time (usually within 30–60 days), except where we must retain certain records (e.g., fraud prevention, legal compliance). Household records necessary to preserve a complete history for remaining members may remain visible to them.
8) Your choices & rights
In‐app controls: edit profile, manage notifications, leave households, and delete items you created (subject to household history).
Marketing: opt out via email links or in‐app settings; we’ll still send essential service emails.
Access/correct/delete/port: email info@roomizapp.com ; we’ll respond within required timeframes.
EU/UK/California notes: you may have additional rights (object/restrict/withdraw consent). Wehonour those where applicable.
9) Security & data breaches
We use technical and organisational measures such as encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring and regular reviews. No system is perfect. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected users and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in line with theNotifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme.
10) Cookies & SDKs
Essential: sign‐in, security, feature operation.
Analytics/performance: understand feature usage and improve reliability.
You can control cookies in your browser and app permissions on your device. Disabling certain technologies may affect functionality.
11) Children
Roomiz is for people 16+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn we have done so, we will delete the information and may close the account.
12) Third-party links
Links to third‐party sites/services are outside this policy. Review their privacy notices separately.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. If changes are material, we’ll provide reasonable notice (e.g., in‐app or by email). Your continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
